Chimney Sweep: Chimney Cleaning, Chimney Inspection, Chimney Maintenance, & Chimney Repair Services
Fort Hunt follows the George Washington Parkway along the Potomac south of Alexandria, neighborhoods of 1950s and 60s ramblers and colonials that grew up around the riverside parkland. River air is the constant here: Potomac moisture works on masonry all year, feeding freeze-thaw damage outside the flue and creosote adhesion inside it. Sixty years of that cycle is why Fort Hunt chimneys reward regular professional care — and why they get ours.
We hold CCP (Certified Chimney Professional) and CCR (Certified Chimney Reliner) certifications and inspect to the NFPA 211 standard. Fort Hunt’s housing went up in one era with one construction style, so we know its chimneys well — including the specific ways riverside humidity ages this generation of brick, mortar, and clay tile faster than the same houses fare further inland.

Chimney Inspections Fireplace Inspections
NFPA 211 Level 1, 2, and 3 inspections with camera documentation of the full flue. On Fort Hunt’s midcentury chimneys we look closely for moisture’s signatures — efflorescence, spalling, and tile joints softened by sixty damp years.
Chimney Cleaning & Fireplace Cleaning
Complete sweeping with removal of all creosote, including the glazed deposits that damp flues encourage. River-adjacent chimneys hold moisture in the flue between fires, and moist flues grip creosote — regular cleaning breaks that cycle.
Chimney Repair & Fireplace Repair
Crown rebuilds, repointing, spalled brick replacement, and waterproofing-minded repairs on 1950s-60s masonry. Keeping Potomac moisture out of the chimney structure is the heart of chimney repair in Fort Hunt, and we build every repair around it.
Chimney Re-lining
When original liners crack or shed, we reline with FireGuard ceramic or stainless steel — sealing the flue against moisture intrusion from both directions and returning decades of service to the original chimney.
Dryer Vent Cleaning
We clean dryer vents from drum to termination and verify airflow. Humid river air makes lint pack denser and cling harder, so Fort Hunt vent runs earn their annual cleaning more than most.
